Parent Workshop on May 31st!

Please join the Justice and Kindness Committee for a special parent workshop – “How to Raise a Child in Preparation for a Diverse World.”  The workshop will take place at Ross on Wednesday, May 31st from 8:45 – 9:45 AM.   We’re excited to offer this space for Ross parents and caregivers to discuss how we develop our children’s cultural competence and to share questions, ideas, and resources.

Dr. Sweeney is a DC-based psychologist and cultural competence expert.  She created Culturally Competent Kids to equip parents and educators with the tools necessary to positively shape children’s perceptions of what diversity is and how it impacts them and their lives.  Here’s how she describes this foundational workshop:  We all want to raise children who are happy, healthy, and successful.  Being able to function in an ever-changing world is an important underlying component to all of these things.  Applicable to parents, teachers, and caregivers, this presentation equips participants with information and tools to help children become lifelong learners of diversity and continue to develop cultural competence throughout their lives.
