Thank you for attending our second annual student-led conferences. Our students demonstrated investment in their learning and are empowered to continually improve. We are so proud of them!
Dress Code Policy
Please find a letter regarding the Ross dress code policy here.
Ross Playground/Field After School
Students and parents/caregivers should follow Ross expectations for safety and kindness when playing on our property after school. Aggressive play and aggressive, unkind language are unwelcome at Ross before, during and after the school day.
Although we are not responsible for supervising after school play, we do expect members of our community to uphold our standards for behavior. Also, please remember that dogs are not allowed on the property at any time. Bikes and scooters are to be walked on and off the property. We strongly suggest locking bikes. Students are not to climb on the storage shed or fences.
Ms. Atlas is relocating to Memphis at the end of the school year. Her husband was offered a wonderful career opportunity and has already moved. We are grateful that we had the opportunity to work with Ms. Atlas for the past three years. We will miss her dearly and wish her all the best in her new position as a teacher/coach in the gifted and talented program. I am pleased to announce that Ms. Rachel Terlop will be joining the Ross team as our new third grade teacher! She has been working closely with Ms. Atlas to ensure a seamless transition. Ms. Terlop is currently teaching in DCPS and serving as an adjunct professor at Trinity University. She is a certified yoga instructor and incorporates mindfulness practices into her classroom.
She has also presented on a variety of educational topics at national and international conferences. We are fortunate have Ms.Terlop on board. Current second grade parents will have an opportunity to meet Ms.Terlop next week. Watch your email for details. More information regarding faculty for our new positions (STEM Coordinator, Social Worker, Reading Specialist) and aide transitions will be shared next week.
Local School Advisory Team (LSAT)
We will elect parent representatives to the LSAT for the 2018-19 school year at the June PTA meeting before the end of year picnic.
The LSAT is an elected body of parents and faculty and an appointed community member. The purpose of the LSAT is to advise the principal on matters that promote high expectations and high achievement for all students. More information about the LSAT is here. Please reach out to Principal Searl if you are interested in learning more and/or wish to be added to the election slate.
