We had a wonderful first week of school and welcomed our new PK3 and PK4 students last Thursday. We hope to see you at our Back-to-School Nights this week.
- ECE Floor (PK3/PK4/K-1) is Tuesday, August 28 from 6:00-7:00pm
- Top Floor (Grades 2-5) is Wednesday, August 29 from 6:00-7:00pm
- Meet directly in your child’s classroom. This is an adult-oriented event.
We are excited to announce our new partnership with the Washington Nationals and we will be raffling off Nationals tickets at both Back-to-School Nights. Register in advance for child-care through the JCC.
On Wednesday, all K-5 students will travel to Fillmore Arts in Hardy Middle School. We will leave Ross at 12:00 noon and return around 3:00pm. Students who have not returned permission slips for Fillmore will not be permitted to attend. Permission slips were sent home with children last week and are available on the Ross website under the “Forms” section. We are not able to accept permission via phone, text, or email. We must have the completed DCPS form.
On Friday, we will celebrate all August birthdays at the end of the day in classrooms. Room parents coordinate the monthly birthday celebrations. Please communicate with your Room Parent to avoid a sugar-overload with too many treats if there are a lot of birthdays in the same month. Please keep it simple; we do not expect toys, candy, etc. to be distributed. All Room Parent contact information is available on the Ross website. Kindly note that Ross is a NUT-FREE campus. We will also have our first “floor-wide” morning meetings of the school year and enjoy our first free dress day.
Please remember to see Ms. Campbell in the Main Office (M-F 8:00am until noon) to request a SmarTrip card for your child. We will use the cards for our field trip travel. Every child age 5 and above will need a card this year for our field trips. Children who do not have a card will need to pay the regular fare on the Metrorail, Metrobus or DC Circulator. Questions?
