Principal’s Weekly Update

Celebration
I am thrilled to announce that Ross Elementary School has been nominated for a National Blue Ribbon Award. Blue Ribbon award winning schools demonstrate excellence in academic achievement and an ability to close the achievement gap. When Chancellor Rhee hired me, my goal for Ross was to create a school worthy of a National Blue Ribbon Award. The hard work of students and staff and strong collaboration with our community has paid off with this prestigious nomination.

FY20 Budget
FY20 budgets are scheduled to be released in early February. Enrollment is a critical factor in budget allocations. Our audited enrollment was 190 students and our projection for FY20 is 181 students. The Ross LSAT will be in communication with further information. In the meantime, you may find the following guidance helpful in understanding DCPS school budgets:http://dcpsdatacenter.com/assets/docs/Community%20Budget%20Guide%20.pdf
A parent coffee to review the FY20 budget is scheduled for Friday, February 8 at 8:05am in Room 205.  Children may be checked into the Café, Library, or E-Lab at 8:00am on this day.

Intent to Re-Enroll Form
Later this week, all PK3 through Grade 4 families will receive an “Intent to Re-Enroll” form in backpack mail and an email with an electronic form. Please return the forms by February 8. This non-binding form will help us with planning and staffing decisions as we enter the FY20 budget season.  Please reach out if you would like a conference to discuss your enrollment plans.
