Dear Ross Community,
It’s difficult to believe another school year is about to end. We continue to be grateful for your partnership and for trusting us with your child’s education and development. We hope you have a safe and relaxing summer. We will see all K-5 students on Monday, August 26 for the first day of school. PK4 begins on Thursday, August 29. Join us for Open House and popsicles on the playground on Friday, August 23 at 3:00pm.

Yearbooks will be distributed this week. Extra copies are available for purchase in the main office before and after school this week. Please bring $25 cash or check made out to the Ross PTA.
Field Day is Tuesday, June 11 at Marie Reed ES.
K-2 in the morning followed by lunch at Ross at noon and Grades 3-5 in the afternoon after lunch at Ross at 11:30. Students should wear their new field day t-shirts and sunscreen and bring a water bottle.
Only current Ross students may participate in Field Day.
Rising 4th Grade Parent Meeting
Parents of current third graders are invited to meet on Wednesday, June 12 at 8:15am in Ms. Mulford’s room to learn about 4th grade at Ross from Ms. Mulford and Mrs. Meyer.
Please remember to see Nurse Gordon on Friday, June 14 to collect your child’s medications.
All library books need to be returned to Ms. Juriga as soon as possible. Lost books are $25. Please bring cash or a check made out to the Ross PTA. Report cards will be held in the main office until library obligations are met.
The playground and field will be replaced over the summer. The property is scheduled to be turned over to the contractors after the last day of school. The goal is to complete both projects by August 26, the first day of school.
It’s the time of year when we bid farewell to some staff members and welcome new educators into our community.
Ms. Campbell has accepted a full-time business manager position at Seaton Elementary where she currently works part-time.
Mr. Ewing is planning a wedding and a move to New York where he will continue to follow his passion for STEM Education.
Ms. Konig is transitioning to the EDCJCC as a lead Preschool Teacher.
Mr. Randall is moving to the New York area in support of his partner’s doctoral work and plans to continue teaching.
Mrs. Terlop is transitioning to Fairfax County Public Schools to teach early childhood and will begin doctoral work at George Mason University.
Ms. Van Schaik has accepted an ELL teacher position at Dorothy Height ES in DCPS.
Ms. Bronson has been accepted into Reading Recovery training and will provide academic support to our three K-1 classes.
Ms. K Campbell is joining our staff as a full-time administrative aide in the main office.
Ms. Chelak is joining the K-1 team as a classroom teacher.
Ms. Cornwall is joining our staff from KIPP charter school as a K-1 classroom teacher.
Ms. Crawford is joining our staff from E.L. Haynes charter school as a Grades 4&5 academic support teacher.
Mr. Eickmeyer is moving up to Grade 2.
Ms. Fogarty is joining our staff as an educational aide.
Ms. Gruse is moving up to Grade 3.
Ms. Lee is moving up to PK4.
Ms. Mitchell is moving up to Grades 2&3 as an academic support teacher.
Ms. Ratner is joining our staff from KIPP charter school as a special education/inclusion teacher.
Ms. Sawyer is transitioning into the STEM Coordinator position.
We are excited to welcome new educators into our community and hope to be fully staffed by early July. The K-1 class assignments for our three classes will be made in August. We have currently enrolled 62 K-1 students and anticipate enrolling more students over the summer months.
