Progress Reports

Progress reports are being sent home today for selected students in Grades 1-5. If your child will be receiving instructional intervention support, you will receive a letter about that as well.

Please sign one copy of the progress report and return it to school. The second copy is for your files. You will also receive an attendance summary if your child has been absent or tardy. Reach out to Ms. Campbell if you have any questions about attendance. She is the POC for attendance matters at Ross.

Staffing Update

We are pleased to welcome Clare Van Schaik to Ross as our new educational aide supporting Grades 2 & 3. While in the Peace Corps, Ms. Van Schaik taught in Rwanda. She is currently a graduate student at The George Washington University. Mr. Braxton resigned from DCPS after deciding to seek other professional opportunities.

Finger Printing and Volunteer Clearance

Volunteer clearance letters should be turned into Ms. Campbell in the Main Office. Parents/guardians may not chaperone field trips without a current clearance letter on file.

Emergency Drills

We recently completed our Intruder Lock-Down drill and our Evacuation Drill. We will have our September fire drill this week.

Enrichment/Calendar in Green Folder

Ross students are involved in many after school enrichments. You can support your child by placing their after-school schedule in the sleeve of their green home/school folder. Many children are anxious when they are not sure about their schedule and a visual in their folder would be extremely helpful. Also, please note that if your child is “double-booked” with a vendor, we will release your child to the first vendor who arrives for check out if their name is on that vendor’s pick-up list. Ross staff do not communicate schedule changes to vendors. For example, teachers will not inform the Treehouse that a student is now in JCC Karate. Parents need to make scheduling changes directly with vendors in timely enough fashion to avoid issues at dismissal time.
