Dear K-5 Families,
We had a wonderful first day of school! There was a lot of positive energy in the air as the children connected with old friends and met new classmates and teachers. We have exceeded our enrollment projection and opened school today with 196 students. This afternoon, we hosted Interim Chancellor Alexander along with Instructional Superintendent Murphy and news outlets. It is always fun to show off our successful little schoolhouse and receive recognition for our hard work. We celebrated our progress on the 2018 PARCC assessment and are currently ranked as the highest performing elementary school in DC in English/Language Arts and the second highest performing in Math. We are so proud of our teachers and students! Details are available on the OSSE website https://osse.dc.gov/page/2017-18-parcc-results-and-resources and individual student scores will be mailed home later this week.
- Students in Grades 3-5 will meet Fillmore teachers and make class selections; all Fillmore class questions can be directed to Ms. Meenehan, Fillmore Director. (Margaret.firstname.lastname@example.org)
- PK3 and PK4 students begin Thursday
- We will practice our first fire drill
Please note that Ross is a NUT FREE campus. If your child has any allergies or medical needs, please visit the Health Suite. Nurse Gordon is at Ross on Wednesday through Friday. Our Health Tech, Ms. Watkins, is at Ross Monday and Tuesday.
Thank you for using the Dismissal Change Form and the Attendance Form on the Ross website. Please complete the emergency pick-up (including permission to walk home) form in your child’s green folder. If there is a change in the person picking up your child, we must be notified in writing and the person must show I.D.
I look forward to getting to know our new students and families. It’s going to be a wonderful school year. I am outside most mornings and afternoons, so please introduce yourself. I can also be reached by email: email@example.com
